#AirMaxDay Ready - Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 LE

With such a historic background, the Nike Air Max 1 is known as "the one that started it all". The first AM1 was released on March 26th, 1987 in the OG University Red/White colorway. Since then, 3/26 has been celebrated as an official sneaker holiday by sneakerheads known as Air Max Day, where they bring out their best pair of AM's to honor this day. It doesn't stop there though. Air Max's have taken over the whole month of March by sneakerheads calling it "Air Max Month" and many wear nothing but air all month long.

This year marks the 30th anniversary for the Air Max 1 so Nike paid homage to the one that started it all by upgrading it and giving it its spotlight for its 30th birthday. The Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 LE was released in University Red/White colorway and looks very similar to the OG pair. This Ultra pair has the same old school look and mesh/suede upper, but was upgraded with a no-sew overlay and ultra lightweight sole to make it lighter than any 1 before. One of the things I love most about this specific sneaker is the "3.26" on the tongue to honor Air Max Day.

When the Air Max Month line-up first dropped, these didn't catch my eye as much as the OG pair because I had been wanting the OG ones for a REALLY long time, so I was stoked that they were re-releasing. But of course, I wasn't the only one excited about these re-releasing. When they dropped on the Nike SNKRS app, they sold within the first few minutes.

Let me just start off by saying that pictures DON'T do the Ultra pair ANY justice. The detail and construction on these is INSANE! I'm usually not a big fan of OG pairs getting the upgraded treatment because I feel like they lose their old school touch, but Nike did a great job on these. They're so crisp and clean looking in person. Every single detail of the sneaker is on point to even the box and the wrap paper inside. I'm a huge fan of Air Max's but one thing on the OG's is that they are REALLY bulky and somewhat on the heavier side. These Ultra's are so lightweight and comfortable, you almost forget that you're wearing AM's and feel like you're literally just walking on air.

Can't thank my Finishline / Finishline Women fam enough for surprising me with my own pair of the new AM 1 Ultra 2.0's. These definitely became one of my favorite sneakers I own not just because of its looks but because of the history behind them. #ShoesSoFresh

(PS. They just dropped today, make sure to cop your pair at Finishline and be ready for AM Day! Trust me, this is definitely a pair you want to own!)
