After signing with Puma as Creative Director in 2014, Rihanna has not only taken sportswear to another level, but has also helped Puma boost sales and gain tons of fans with her famous footwear designs. Her Fenty x Puma ready-to-wear collection was first spotted during last season's New York Fashion Week and about seven months later, the 90's and Japanese inspired athleisure-wear is finally available nationwide for purchase as of yesterday.
Rihanna's Fenty x Puma Fall 2016 collection consists of exaggerated sportswear silhouettes in mainly black and white tones and it includes everything from kimono track jackets, laced sweatpants, oversized tees and bottoms, sweatband-like chokers, du-rags, and leather platform boots. Price points are definitely higher than the average Puma gear. The least expensive item in the collection is the Terry Cloth Choker for $30 and the highest being the Sideline Parka V3 for $1,800. Six:02 hosted Pop-Up shops in Los Angeles, CA. and New York, NY., giving fans the opportunity to get their hands on the collection. Within the pop-up shops, you were also able to purchase Rihanna's previously dropped Creepers and Fenty Trainers. Lucky for New York, (but very sad for LA fans), Rihanna made an appearance at the New York pop-up where she took photos with fans and talked about her inspiration behind her collection.
To celebrate the launch of the Fenty Puma by Rihanna Fall '16 collection, Six:02 invited 100 "badass" people in LA to experience VIP shopping of the collection and enjoy a celebration party...I just happen to be one of those 100 "badass" people!!
VIP SHOPPING at the POP-UP SHOP
I was so stoked to not only have the opportunity to see the collection first-hand, but also to celebrate the launch with my SIX:02 fam. Personally, the collection was not my style, so I didn't get any of the items. However, I missed the "Oatmeal" Creepers when they first released, so I was very happy to finally add those to my collection.
THE LAUNCH PARTY
Throughout the launch party, you were able to mingle while enjoying drinks and appetizers, take photos in the photobooth, listen to sounds by DJ Michelle Pesce and witness a live art battle where two teams had 90 minutes to create an art piece on a blank canvas.
Each guest in attendance, received a key that if lucky, opened 1 of 5 lockers that included prizes such as Six:02 gift cards and Fenty x Puma collections pieces. Unfortunately, my key did not open any of the 5 lockers :(
