Half Marathon training officially began for me this week. Although I've done the mileage for a half marathon once before, Rock n Roll LA will be my very first half marathon race.
For the next 12 weeks, I will be following a training plan put together by BlacklistLA founder Erik. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to run with BlacklistLA on some training runs for the Rock n Roll San Diego Half Marathon. I didn't run that half marathon because I was waiting for the Nike Women's Half, but once they cancelled, I had no choice but to select another race. Lucky for me, that same week that the Nike Women's HM got cancelled, I attended an event put together by Finishline / Finishline Women for their #WeAreMore campaign (read about it HERE), where all the girls, including myself, were gifted a free race entry to the Rock n Roll LA Half Marathon.
Throughout the next 12 weeks, I will be sharing my training journey on my instagram and also will be doing weekly blog posts summarizing the week. I have a mix of emotions, I don't know what to expect, but what I do know, is that with the right training, I will be conquering 13.1 miles.
A year ago I was just getting into running (and honestly struggling REALLY bad to even like it), but fast forward to a year later, here I am, training for my first half marathon and already looking forward to running the LA Marathon next year.
Rock n Roll LA, I'm coming for ya on October 30th!!
