Nike LA Home Run - Are We Running Today?

One thing I love most about Nike is that they always find a way to keep the community active. Whether it is with their free weekly NRC sessions or with special Run Club events such as this Home Run at the Container Yard in Downtown LA to celebrate the launch of the Apple Watch Nike+.

These events not only help keep the community active, but also help LA runners bond and create long lasting friendships. I've never met a more welcoming and supportive group of people than the LA running community. When I first started attending NRC, I was all alone. I didn't know anyone, but it only took one session for me to make friends. I now consider those friends family.

The 5k through downtown was led by Carmelita "the Jet" Jeter and Gina Rodriguez. Before the run, Coach Blue Benadum introduced both of these talented women and they both gave super motivational speeches. It was definitely something I had to hear the day before my very first Half Marathon.

We were all broken into our pace groups and from there we started our run. Even though I've lived in Los Angeles my whole life, I can't ever get enough of the beautiful city views. You definitely see a lot more on foot than by driving in a car.

At the finish line, both Carmelita and Gina, Nike Run Club coaches and pacers, were waiting for us to arrive and finish strong!

Thank you Nike for hosting such awesome events!
