As the end of the year is approaching, I find myself registering for more and more races. I tend to do the same races every year not just to try and PR on familiar courses, but because most of the races hold a special place in my heart. My first 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon.
I kicked off my race season by running the HBDLA 5k hosted by BlacklistLA. Although I didn't PR this year, it was still such a fun run with my BlacklistLA and Adidas Running family. I also just started my journey to ConqurLA by running the Santa Monica Classic 10K, which is 1 out of 3 races of the challenge (the other two are the Pasadena Half in January '18 and the LA Marathon, March '18).
Some of the races that I have coming up are the Dodgers 5K, Rock N' Roll LA Half Marathon, Pasadena Half and LA Marathon and I will most likely add some other 5/10k's in between those races.
I'm looking forward the most to marathon training because that is what helps me become a more consistent and better runner. After completing the LA Marathon earlier this year, I had to sit out a month due to an injury and I felt like I lost everything I had worked so hard for. I went back to running slower than before, completely forgot how to control my breathing and just get tired faster. During marathon training, 5, 10, even 13 miles seemed like absolutely nothing and now, I struggle to even run a 10K.
I never thought I would love running and would be willing to pay hundreds of dollars to run races, but here I am, super stoked for my upcoming race schedule.
